Manufacturing rolls of photovoltaic material at Konarka

Konarka has developed a manufacturing process that allows lightweight, lower cost, flexible plastics to be used rather than glass or silicon the only materials able to withstand conventional manufacturing process without disintegrating. Konarka can manufacture cells quicker and cheaper than under previous methods, opening the way for cost-effective mass production. These production methods are easily scalable, environment-friendly, and do not expose materials to toxic chemicals. Another significant advantage is that it does not require the invention of a new factory to do this instead it can use existing coating and printing machines and technologies.

Konarkas products can be produced and used virtually anywhere. Simplified manufacturing processes allow for production even in regions where supporting infrastructure is unavailable.

Konarka leads the industry in developing methods for cost-effective, mass production of photovoltaics. By manufacturing in this way, using Konarkas breakthrough materials and methods, photovoltaic materials can be produced in a variety of colors and patterns, and with varying degrees of translucency, offering mission-critical design for virtually any application.
